I have been advised against using form 9/36s meters in a 9s setting for possible issues if there is a lose of phase.
Has anyone experienced any issues putting a 9/36s in a 9s setting?
Has anyone been doing this without issue?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
so are you talking about a meter that can be programmed to be a 9 or 36S or are you talking switching between them? Which specific meter? There are wiring differences between a 9S and 36S. The 36S has the C phase voltage input in the B phase position.
The meters would be Itron type CP1STR3 and CP3STR3. It’s has the auto service sensing that will detect whether it should be a 6s, 8s, or 9s depending of socket configuration. The transformer and meter socket will be wired for 9s meter.
The possible issue is if a phase voltage reference is lost the meter will auto sense to a 6s meter therefore causing meter errors.
