Shakopee Public Utilities has created an AMI Request for Proposal. Any input, as to what I should watch out for, when reviewing my copy? Is there anything UMMA members wish they would have included in their past RFP’s? I’ve been told it’s a 50+ page document.

I’ll be honest we didn’t have anything in our contracts that stated what we expected for lead times of meters or other equipment and we wish we would have. In today’s current state everything is a mess but even before covid we would have orders delayed and we have nothing to go back after them with. I would suggest trying to work something like that in. Also look at the warranty they are willing to give. Most will do only a year first attempt. You might want to extend that longer and try to get them to honor it. If they are saying the meters should be good for 20 years then why can’t they warranty and stand behind them for 3-5 years.
